Diy coral, pink, yellow and turquoise painted peg board to organize and brighten a work space

A How to Guide for Painting a Colorful Peg Board

Want to bring some color and organization into your space? Follow my step by step process below to create a bright and functional accessory for your space!

Gathering Materials

First I measured the space I was going to hang the peg board and found one 48”H by 24”W and grabbed a variety pack of hooks and hanging hardware. I knew I wanted to paint it in a color block design because that is what I am obsessed with these days. So I chose four acrylic paint colors that are a bit of a regular color scheme for me (turquoise, coral, pink, and yellow). I always have blue painters tape in stock because I use it just about daily for my crafts, the kid’s crafts, or to hang something temporarily on the wall. Last items a small paint roller, measuring tape, pencil and hammer.

Design Layout

I covered my work surface in craft paper so not to get any paint on the table. Then I rolled out a measuring tape along the edge of the peg board and divided the board into 4 slightly-varying-in-size sections. You could always make the sections the same size but I liked how it gave another dimension to the color blocking. I placed 3 strips of blue tape across the board dividing each section so that when it was pealed up there would be a strip of white board left behind adding yet another dimension.

Paint and Install

Using the roller I then applied two coats of paint with my kiddos help of course. Once it was dry, I used the hanging hardware to attach to the wall and placed hooks in the peg holes and again with my kiddo’s help hung his tools and mine on the peg board.
